Frequently Asked Questions

What do I bring and wear to class?
You will need to wear long pants, long-sleeve shirt, full-fingered gloves (leather provide the best grip), protective shatter proof eye-wear such as sunglasses or goggles. Over-the- ankle footwear is required and a rain suit is recommended (we will ride in a light rain).
Do I need a motorcycle to take the course?
No, FSR provides motorcycles and helmets. If you would like to bring your own helmet, you may do so as long as it is DOT approved. Half-shell DOT approved helmets are acceptable.
How much does the course cost?
The Basic Rider’s Course is $250;  The Experienced Rider’s Course is $130.00

We accept Master Card, Visa, cash, cashier’s check, money order or personal checks. Payment and registration must be received in order to reserve a slot in the class. If submitting by mail and paying by check, cashier check or money order, please print out and complete the registration application online and mail to: Florida Safe Rider, 300 Industrial Park Drive, Monticello, FL 32344.  Please indicate on your application the class date you are registering for and note that classes are on a first come first serve basis. If we receive your application and the class date you chose is full, we will contact you and ask that you select another date.

How old do I have to be to register for a class?
Student must be at least 16 and hold a Learner’s Driver License to enroll in the Basic RiderCourse. Having a basic knowledge of traffic laws, road signs and general “road rules” is an important pre-curser to the rider course.

The Basic Rider’s Course is offered to those with no riding experience at all and/or novice riders to include long-time riders. The course covers the basic fundamentals for you to develop your capabilities to become a safe and responsible motorcyclist. Experienced Rider's Course

The ERC is designed to provide a safe, effective, and enjoyable training event for participants and RiderCoaches. It is intended to facilitate the development of riders within each exercise and throughout the course. Participants should have successfully completed the MSF Basic RiderCourse or equivalent, or have sufficient riding skills and experiences to operate a motorcycle with basic proficiency. continue reading…
